A Horse (Blanket) Of A Different Colour

Our next cultural heritage project is a very unique one! Our people have had a close connection to Łi (the horse) for centuries, as well as to our natural environment. For the Canneci, in particular, we have always made great use of the many plants and natural surroundings in Louisiana – especially various plant fibres.

Thanks to a 2025-2026 Community Partnership Grant from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, we are working on a unique, plant fibre based, Tceté Łi (Horse Blanket) – continuing our traditions of weaving and horse culture!
